Winnipeg Jets fly again

LET THE JETS FLY AGAIN.

For Manitoba hockey fans the Jets fly once again in Winnipeg

In the same moment though, Winnipeg fans know how Thrashers fans are feeling these last couple of months, but for Atlanta hockey fans this is twice over and both times the team has headed north of the 49th parallel. Marketing this team was key even before they hit the ice as they have always been ranked 4th in that city, behind the MLB’s Braves, NFL Falcons and NBA Hawks plus this with not even mentioning any NCAA sports.

In a market like that you had to be a winner to be able to grab the city’s attention from those other sports/teams. This being said the Thrashers finish there history in Atlanta not even winning a playoff game being swept in 4 games by the Rangers in 06/07. In fact only 7 out of the 19 seasons there has been NHL hockey in Atlanta(includ. the Flames) have they made the playoffs and have never advanced past the 1st round.

Plus the franchise from the get go never really on the right foot in house, starting off with a rookie GM, inexperienced coach and possibly the worst 1st overall pick ever in Patrik Stefan. How Brian Burke convinced this franchise to pass up on 1 of the Sedin twins we shall never know(Grateful as a Canucks fan though!). In the end Atlanta had its run but was never really able to turn that non-traditional market into to winner such as it’s counterparts did in the Predators or Stars.

Winnipeg fans have a lot to look forward to, not only do you have NHL hockey once again but you do so with a team that if kept together and with the right pieces added could become a force to be reckoned with in the future. With stars such as Tobias Enstrom, Andew Ladd, Dustin Byfuglien and Evander Kane the future looks bright for Jets fans.
