The Winnipeg Jets now have a name and a logo and even though I’m a Canucks fan through and through, a little piece of me wants to see the Jets succeed and become another great Canadian NHL franchise
True North Sports and Entertainment unveiled the primary and secondary logo’s that represent the new look for the old name that will play in the NHL’s Southeast Division next season.
The logo’s design which was developed with Reebok and the NHL is inspired by the logo of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Of course Winnipeg is home to the 1st Canadian Air Division and the NORAD division that commands over 3,000 Military and civilian personal. As well True North has always had a strong connection with the 17th Wing of the Canadian Forces dating back to the very first Military night at Manitoba Moose games.
Design cues for the plane within the logo were inspired by jets that the Air Force has used over the years and to this day.
“True North Sports & Entertainment felt it was important for the new Winnipeg Jets to develop a strong new identity,” said Mark Chipman, Chairman & Governor of True North Sports & Entertainment. “We felt it was important to authenticate the name Jets and we believe the new logo does that through its connection to our country’s remarkable Air Force heritage, including the rich history and relationship that our city and province have enjoyed with the Canadian Forces.”
Fans of the Jets can purchase Jets Gear at the new team store known as “Jets Gear” where the old Moose’s “Off the Rack” Store stood. Jet’s gear will be available for purchase later this summer on NHL.com.
